This is my 3rd time trying this wine and they have all been "good not great". Qualitatively this seemed a touch better than a typical well-made NV Champagne. Vibrant, youthful, full of energy, not particularly expressive. Only a touch of the fresh dough that I normally associate with this wine.
Pop and pour, drank a good-sized glass over an hour. Full of tropical fruit, with pineapple standing out. Lots of flavors and really fun to drink. Maybe not exactly traditional. This met or slightly exceeded my expectation.
Pop and pour, drank a good-sized glass over an hour. This screams California. Lots of lush fruit, ample earth and spice. This is holding up very well and regrettably my last bottle.
Pop and pour, drank a good-sized glass over an hour. There is a lot of interest in this wine. It is well-resolved, I don't get alcohol or gushing fruit like I did years ago. A lively palate, quite acidic as I find Occidental to be in general, fairly pleasant earth, some angularity that a few other tasters appreciated and felt that it added interest.
Two hour decant, drank a good-sized glass over an hour. Classic Bordeaux. I don't detect any vintage problems with this wine. Lovely earth, cedar, pipe tobacco, sandalwood, plum and cassis.
Slow-od only a couple hours, drank a good-sized glass over 1 hour. . There is moderate secondary qualities with quite a lot of forward ripe fruit, but it is better integrated than two years ago. This was a step behind the 2003 Pichon Lalande but had plenty of aged Bordeaux character. (I feel I'm stating the obvious)
