France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
My final bottle and just as good as the others opened a decade+ ago. Still wonderfully fresh orchard fruit with spring floral notes and faintly minty. Dense and impressively concentrated, this is a powerhouse with elegant styling and impeccable balance. Gorgeous wine.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Popped-decanted-and-poured. Wow, what a treat. Yes this has the buttered popcorn character unsurprising from Corton-Charlemagne but with a voluptuous richness showing unctuous textures above-and-beyond any norm. So engaging now with so much more to come.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Enticing and dense to start, this kept opening and unfolding into something wonderfully nuanced and complex. It is rare for a wine at this age to. E vest at its final sip. Exciting on so many levels.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru
I’ve had this wine numerous times through the years and tonight’s was certainly enjoyable but the least exciting. While the structure is in fact fully and finally resolved, there isn’t quite enough left behind. Unmistakably Vosne spiced with good depth, but this bottle hasn’t quite lived up to its full potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru
Ripe red and black cherry and berry with big richness and fun spice, supported with just enough spice to show its inherent terroir. Ripeness dominates everything else, making it less exciting than ideal for a Grand Cru, even while easily enjoyable.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru
I liked this more than most others tonight, with its spiced and tropical character well supported with bright energy. Our (female) Sommelier tonight thought this like a dancer on the pole, but I didn’t find the opulence to be quite so ostentatious.
2009 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut Rosé 92 Points
France, Champagne
Popped-and-poured. Ripe red berries start-to-finish are rich and fleshy with easily enough grip, but less nuanced vintage I’ve experienced.

2001 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Black and red cherry with very lively textures and lively Asian five spice. Still nicely bright, we’d have just liked a bit more fruit to be present.
