2009 P. Dubreuil-Fontaine Père & Fils Corton-Clos du Roi
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Farmyard, earth, Brett, brambles, a little forest floor. Juicy but more in the fleshy space, hard and foursquare, slightly bitter, plenty of tannins, dark hued fruits; brambles, super savoury, blood, proper rustique!

2012 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
Well managed whole bunch, black hued fruits; berry, a little earthy underpin and sweet spice. On the palate the tannins are exemplary; super silky but super persistent. Dark hued fruits, fresh, long, not as complex as I remember but time helps this to open, fruit grows, tannins remain immaculate. Very nice indeed.

2023 Rippon Pinot Noir Threads
New Zealand, South Island, Otago, Lake Wanaka
Medium minus intensity aromas show a touch of menthol, whole bunch, biscuit, opens to show a little blackberry, touch of almost band aid and orange peel Medium plus intensity acidity, lean and a touch skinny, red and blackberry, fruit tea, sweet spice especially clove. Talc textured tannins, very slightly bitter. Gains complexity with time. Nice.

2017 Ata Rangi Pinot Noir
New Zealand, North Island, Wairarapa, Martinborough
Pretty, jubey, cherry over berry, pretty couches of sweet spice, has that Oregon note on the nose. Juicy, fleshy, pretty, a little whole bunch is in evidence on the palate, non intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish, a little fruit tea, drying, raspy tannins, nice palate, alcohol warmth carries the finish. Yummo.

2015 Ashton Hills Pinot Noir Reserve
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
Red cherry, chalky tannins, amaro bitters, hints of whole bunch and wild ferment funk, jubey fruit lozenge notes, sweet spice. Juicy, tangy, lean, red fruit, slightly bitter, quite lean and savoury on the palate. Hmm.

2019 Garagiste Pinot Noir Merricks Cuve Béton
Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Mornington Peninsula
Blackberry fruit, black and fruit tea, sweet spice, a little earthy note. Fruit and black tea, silky tannins, fruit plays second fiddle, simple, nice, slight non intrusive alcohol warmth helps push things a little longer than they deserve to be.
