  • 2023 Devil's Corner Riesling Resolution

    Australia, Tasmania, Tamar Valley

    Sulphur, touch of pretty and fresh fruits, show ripe apple and stone fruit, a sense of richness here as well. In the mouth it has medium plus intensity acidity, lashings of generous fruit. Superb.

    Slight lime, grass, honey, slightly dusty notes. In the mouth it has citrus, plenty of textured grip on the mid palate, slightly grassy notes. Hmm.

  • 2023 Evans & Tate Chardonnay Single Vineyard Ellen's Ridge

    Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River

    buttery malolactic up front with muted stone fruit and oak spice plus a little citrus behind this…quite rich. Rich on the palate as well but with a lovely citric zing, long, the oak needs time to settle but very good.

    apple, pear, citrus shows orange, floral tops notes, very fruit forward on the nose. Juicy, fleshy, fruit forward here as well but super fresh as well, clean, long, pretty good.

  • 2024 Yabby Lake Vineyard Pinot Noir Tasmania Single Vineyard

    A little ashy whole bunch, sweet spice and a touch of red cherry and berry, earthy underpin. Juicy, touches of fruit cordial on the palate but with savoury almost peppery underpin. Slight textured. Non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish. Hmm to okay.

  • 2024 Willunga 100 Grenache Trott Vineyard Blewitt Springs

    Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

    Surprisingly savoury and quite a muted nose, slight red berry fruit, a little savoury spice, perhaps a smidge of whole bunch? In the mouth it's got some biscuit, slightly bitter underpin, fruit is red hued but non delineated but doesn’t really travel. Alcohol is a little intrusive. Meh

    Pretty red over black berry fruit with a little earthy underpin and savoury spice. Touch of baked earth. On the palate it's quite rich, boldly fruited, a bit on the large side; medium dry red territory but nice.

    Very slightly sulphur, lime, a little green apple, simple nose. Medium plus intensity acidity, textured tug at the mid palate, fruit is very zesty and tangy. Very long, simple but nice.

    Ooh, almost a little lactic note offers a creamy underpin to muted orange citrus over orchard fruit (pear), surprisingly textured burr, fruit has a little savoury pity note super interesting. What fun!

    slightly reductive/bacon fat, sulphur prickle. Muted citrus in support. Despite medium plus intensity acidity it's a little flat on the palate, silky mid palate burr.

    Like the Tilbury the solids reductiveness dominate the nose. On the palate it's juicy, fleshy, tangy, a little stone fruit joins the citrus, textured rasp is drying. Kind of nice. Time for those solids to integrate.

    Butter and sweet spice, slight sulphur, creamy lactic notes, muted fruit. Juicy, tangy but with the malolactic and oak notes in charge of the muted fruit, finishes slightly bitter as well. I'd hope that time will help here.

    Earthy, reductive, a little closed and reticent, dilute smelling fruit. In the mouth it's a bit sharply acidic, tart in fact…it feels like it's fallen apart. Slightly bitter on the finish. Odd.

    Blackcurrant, slight mint in support, simple but charming nose. Medium plus intensity acidity is charming, fresh, blackcurrant, charming, plain lovely, a tiny touch of plain chocolate joins the other flavours, tannins are persistent and grippy. Yum.

Closing

Such great fun - lots of really good food as well as lashings of wines...running around like a headless chooks means the notes are a little skinny but this so much fun.
