Served from magnums. Well first off - i think i was maybe being a *little* unkind to yesterday's '18 Pol Rose. That certainly has a little more poise, a little more elegance on the finish. With that out of the way...this is great. Lovely savoury character. A little plush, a little sweet at the end perhaps - but a very good start to proceedings, and I really enjoy having enough of this to reliably calibrate my palate.
This is lovely. Just a hint of reductive bite. The oak is there, with a kind of skipping joyousness to it. This isn't taking itself too seriously, but nor does it require you to put a lot of effort in. If this were from California it would be a cult classic and people would marvel at the poise and balance - but it's not. Obviously brutal at current retail but...lovely stuff.

After last night's 2007 Grand Cru from the same address, felt like opening this. Well maybe it's a massive fruit day over here because...wow, this is great. Yes there's this coke float element, yes the fruit is maybe just a little bit concealed by the oak but...this is a lovely, rounded wine with great length. If Carlsberg made 2008 villages burgundy...

This is lovely - definitely GC heft - but honestly, whilst it's clearly higher class than the 08 Villages which preceded it...it's not *that* much higher class. I don't want to damn this wine with faint praise - but it served to highlight just how much the previous bottle outperformed.
No better than it might be - fully mature, and did its job of taking us down the home straight, accompanied with bad guitar playing and much reminiscing.

2020 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chardonnay Bourgogne
