Small glass. Floral start with all orchard fruit throughout. Big at the beginning, brighter on the finish. Very good weight. Good now, perhaps some upside from here.
Small glass. Very ripe, somewhat tropical, somewhat pineappley. Core structure has softened, and the wine seems to have lost its balance. This was so beautiful in its youth.
Popped, decanted, and poured. Luxurious black fruits with still too firm tannins. It could have used an hour or three of air, but poof... it was gone, so I never got to revisit
USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County
Small glass. Rich but nearly sweet from middle forward, so lacking a real vinous core. Not my style of wine, I never understand how some people think these wines are similar to Sine Qua Non.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Small glass from magnum, which was a leaker. Ripe black fruits more advanced than we would hope (but it was a leaker), lacking much brightness despite the good volume here. 89 points, but an off bottle vs previous times tasted.
Small glass. A pleasant surprise for the vintage. Just enough ripe black fruits with faint spice and earth notes in support. Combines fruit and earth well for something interesting and moderately nuanced for current enjoyment.
Small glass. Another opulent wine that manages to keep it together despite both sweet and warm hints. Retains its balance well, good+ length, very good weight.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
Open an hour before serving, then tasted three times. Fine black cherry and berry aromas and flavors with some roasted meat notes, slightly lacking in Grand Cru density right now. Good balance, good now, but no hurry to drink up.
Popped-and-poured, this got richer and richer, fleshier and fleshier with more air. Always dense and concentrated, this was fun and exciting to start, then richer and more full an hour later. Upside from here.

2005 Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District 91 Points

Small glass. Dense black fruit, clearly New World styled in that near opulence, but yet reasonably well balanced and easy to enjoy.

2015 La Spinetta (Rivetti) Barolo Vigneto Garretti Flawed
