Flight 3 - Best of Delamotte (2 Notes)

Flight 4 - Aged Salon (2 Notes)

  • 2002 Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 98 Points

    France, Champagne

If tasted blind, no one will have guess it’s more than 20 years old, tasted side by side with 1999 vintage and both have no sign of oxidation and still going strong.

There is something magical about Salon and it will take a long time before you can truly enjoy the beauty of an aged Salon.

Pronounced nose intensity with notes of peach, red apple, brioche, mineral, toast, biscuit. High acidity and long finish.

  • 1925 Château Mouton Rothschild 100 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Bought this from auction and the condition and ullage look promising. There is mould covering the wine cork and the cork was tight. Using Durand to slowly open the wine, it came out in one piece.

There are visible sediments on the bottom. The wine is pale amber. The nose included notes such as tea, mushroom, toast, and hints of dried black cherry. The finish is short and tannin is more like medium- or low tannin for a 100 years old wine.

All the guest tasted it blind, and majority guess it was 1960s to 1970s, and was caught surprise to have drank such a historic momentum wine from Mouton. I have to give it 100 pointer for the emotional treat.
