Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
92/94
Still not dead, that wine exudes some lovely old wine notes, and old classic OZ Shiraz in a 13% alcohol long gone in all parts of australia seemingly and sadly
Nose is first a bit closed and then shows sooth, ashes, and some dust, with leathery notes, forrest floor and humus, it is aged but the palate is exquisite, with soft tannins, the then exhuberant fruit is here integrated and still nicely present with plums and cassis, it's lovely and soft on the palate, extremly dinkable and a perfumy taste that lingers long enough to be an excellent bottle without being outstanding.
All wines were in the same range obviously with different styles
here the nose is the main asset, intense aromas of Sooth, dried herbs, and black olive, a hint of anchovies ... 95+
Palate is well integrated with a pushy and racing acidity, but does'nt match that intense and so distinctive nose, making the "only" a 92/94... still bieing again lovely and integradted, in a great drinking spot. Silky and smooth palate.
We are lucky to have those wines in cellar and available to sell or buy !
France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Saint-Chinian
Again, I cannot say one of the bottles was better than the other last night,
All poured in Spiegelau Definition, with Coravin, and develloping so nicely in the glass, that one is maybe the most restrained of the 2 but is showing a distinct character of tar, olives, and a bit of leather, gamey in a way
The palate is lovely, silky with a hint of power and alcohol, but a noble touch of oak lits up the ensemble to give maybe the longest wine of the trio here.
