    France, Champagne

    Medium-gold colour. Few bubbles remaining in this wine. Slight reduction/soy note on the nose, joined by caramel, nuts, apple, and biscuit aromas. Medium-bodied, with replays from nose. Plenty of lemon, apple, and nuts on the palate. Moderate finish, ~35s, with more lemon, apple, and nuts.

  • 1996 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà 90 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco

    Medium-dark ruby colour. Aromas of barnyard, mint, earth, cherry, leather, plum, dried flowers, and tar. Medium-bodied, cool, with menthol, dried currant and cherry, leather, and orange rind notes. Sort finish, ~20s, with red fruit and leather. Still quite closed showing austerity and firm tannins. Hold in the cellar another 5+ years.

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco

    Medium-dark ruby colour with burgundy tinges. Aromas of peach, kool-aid crystals, currant, raisins, spice. Medium-bodied, with currant, plums, orange rind, licorice, and iced tea. Moderate finish, 30-35s, with red fruit. Needs a long decant to get to the level of the previous bottle, which unfortunately didn't happen this time. Hold for at least a few years or decant for 3-4 hours or more.

    Medium-dark garnet/burgundy colour. Aromas of greens, blackcurrant, talc, and licorice/anise. Medium-bodied, with red fruit, black pepper, and spice notes. Moderate finish, ~30s, with red fruit and stems.
