France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Lush with ripe/fresh apple, baked apple, candied lemon peel and so much more. Ultra dense with a complete sense of near-perfect harmony. Great length. Decanted for an hour before serving because PYCM wine tends to be reductive, this was glorious from the start, and even better when finished two hours later.
Perfect bottle with perfect fill. I last had a (correct) bottle 15 years ago and tonight it was even better. Some fresh, more dried red cherry with anise, leather, and braised meat. Still floral in a charming way with great length with so much unfolding and refolding, then unfolding again. So old school in the best possible way. Alongside the equally brilliant 1974.
Bigger and bolder than the 1971, and almost as brilliant. Expressively floral with a bold cross-section of both fresh and dried red and black cherry is great combination. Very good density for old Barolo and certainly very good length.
I wanted to like this wine more but it was simply charming with enough depth and textures, just nothing outstanding or even very interesting. That doesn't make me a bad person.
Big and brawny with far more tannic structure than the fruit will ever gracefully support. I was told the unfinished bottle was beautiful the next night.
Wonderfully red fruited and charming with an elegant sense of style, even if nothing close to the excitement or energy of the 1996 in the next glass. But fun and engaging right now.

Yellow and green apple throughout. Bright to start, seemingly even brighter two hours later.

Seemed very old but not oxidized, just on the dirty side.

Lots here that is interesting, but also lots here that is coarse and still awkward even after 30 years.

Rich and dense with a complex set of red and black cherry aromas and flavors. Enticing enough now but with so much more in the tank.
