Another instalment of this delightful autumnal tradition
I'm torn about this; on the one hand, the average quality of the wines was very high, but on the other I don't think any of reds actually brought me much joy, with the probable exception of the first Cote de Beaune flight. Fully mature wines from good vintages > flashier vineyards from more boring vintages, I guess...
The food was really good though - no question about that.
NV Laherte Frères Champagne Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut Les Beaudiers 92 Points
France, Champagne
Disgorged December 2023. Very pink to look at, and very red-fruited indeed. Some lovely notes of rose and musk season the nose, but the palate is almost entirely a very pure strawberry flavour. It's just about in balance and as such very tasty indeed, and the finish lingers gorgeously.
