Bonta
Tasted Sunday, October 19, 2008 by Alex H with 540 views
Organised by William, the purpose of the luncheon was to showcase attractive burg wines to our Italian winemaking friends - Luca and Rosanno. All wines were tasted blind.
An extremely pleasing afternoon luncheon with many good burgs and not to mention that almost half were 02s, which is just a wonderful vintage.
2004 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts 84 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Lightly gold. Some stonefruit lined with grapefruit citrus lift with whiffs of minerals and spices. A gentle explosion of intense lemons smoothened out by lemony limey mineral salts. After some time in the glass, sweet vanilla oak and honeyed notes emerges.

2004 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru La Perrière Blanc 85 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru
Deep yellow. The nose has floral-honeyed-caramel-covered sweet tangerines and pomelo leaves. Warm mouthfeel that is much more elegant, mellow and vintage quality than the other two whites tasted. It just needs something to make it a great.

2005 Olivier Leflaive Chablis Les Deux Rives 82 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis
Light gold with green tinge. Warm mouthfeel that proves sweeter than the Puligny. This is not as mineral and citrus dominated too. However, this is very approachable and comfortable. This is neither simple nor complicated.
