2023 BXT Chardonnay Blanc de Blanc Wheeler Vineyard 91 Points

The nose is open-knit and lovely with tones of quince, poached pears, nectarines, peaches, yellow flowers, vanilla notes, almonds, apples, saline, warm biscuits, and toast tones. There is excellent balance and freshness to the fruit while showing off just enough in the autolytic department to round it out. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and with some lovely texture along with crisp, high acidity that is integrated and mouthwatering. This is lovely and honestly it’s drinking really well already.

NV BXT Chardonnay "Conversations With My Former Self" Manley Vineyard 91 Points

This is the first of what will become a solera as the years go on. As of right now it’s principally 2023 with some 2024 blended in. It is fragrant and balanced with rounded tones of peaches, white fruits, limes, red apples, candied lemons, almond paste, cashews, white flowers, biscuits, baking spices, and some toasty notes. There is good complexity right now as it shows off some lovely expressive qualities. The Medium bodied feel is balanced, rounded, and textured with racy, high acidity that has some zip. This is really lovely right now and I would love to see how this develops as is and how the solera develops over the years.

2023 BXT Pinot Noir Blanc de Noir McCormack Ranch 91 Points

The nose is lifted, balanced, and elegant with tones of red berries, quince, nectarines, nutty tones, Bosc pears, elderflowers, Meyer lemons, toast, and biscuit notes. This shows off a more demure and pretty quality that is fun to take in. The Medium bodied feel is refined and balanced with tart, high acidity. The feel shows off the elegance of the nose while the acidity has some presence, but doesn’t overwhelm. I can see this developing nicely over the next few years as the acidity and tones fully balance out.

The nose is lifted and fresh with airy tones of white fruits, likes, white peaches, green apples, saline, crushed almonds, warm dough, biscuits, and jasmine. There is a lot of vibrancy to the tones with a cool quality to boot. The Medium bodied feel is fresh and balanced with racy, high acidity that has a touch of sting at the moment. This is fun and lively, but also showing a good bit of youth. I can see this coming together nicely with another 2-3 years as it needs to settle into itself.

2024 BXT Syrah “Therapy” Shake Ridge Ranch 90 Points

The nose leans right into the savory and peppery side of Syrah while still showing off vibrant tones of black cherries, raspberries, olive tapenade, some briny notes, a touch of bitter chocolate, licorice, incense, and violets. It has a lot of exuberance right now, but it’s hitting its notes in a great way. The Medium/full bodied feel is balanced, but with some youthful verve along with refreshing, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. This is young and can certainly use a few years to come together, but it’s also showing really well and with the more savory style.
