Introduction

This was the OG lunch group. We had a nice group of five (DM,BB,JV, CV,KB) for lunch and a nice mix of wines. This is always a fun way to burn an afternoon - especially on a chilly day in the dead of winter.

  • 2015 Gaston Chiquet Champagne Special Club Brut Vauzelle 93 Points

    France, Champagne

    Light gold color. Drank a glass over 45 minutes. This was lean and crisp with green apple, steely minerality, touches of apple peel, and bread dough. Very nicely focused with a nice amount of fruit. Shoudl drink well for 10 years.

  • 2014 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Blanc 93 Points

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc

    Light gold color. Drank a glass plus over an hour. Wow, this just burst forth on the nose. This filled with great crystallized stone, Meyer lemon, tangerine and citrus zest on the nose. The palate is focused and crisp, right in the zone, a beautiful balance of minerality and citrus as this really punches above it's weight. Loved it.

  • 2007 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Justice Vineyard 94 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills

    Medium red color with a 3mm clear edge. PNP, drank a glass plus over 90 minutes. I don't ever get tired of the '07 Justice. I drank my last bottle back in August, so it was a pleasure to revisit it again today. This has such a pretty nose, rosemary, Christmas spice, aromatic red berries, and dried roses. The palate still sings, with damp forest floor, spices, leather, raspberry and cherry fruits on a soft, long, and well integrated frame. So good.

  • 2004 R. López de Heredia Rioja Reserva Viña Tondonia

    DArk red color. PNP, followed a glass over 90 minutes. I don't know, I just wasn't feeling this today. For me it was a bit medicinal and more brooding. Vitamins, iodine, dark cherry, lacquer, dense, mineraly, and quite firmly tanninc. It opened somewhat more over the hour plus, but it never hit a stride for me. Score reserved.
