Introduction

A few of us that belong to the Tasting Collective, did the Pink Ivy tasting menu tonight (DD/DD, ML/BL, KB/VB). It was a fun menu, and we had some wines that were up to the show tonight. Good times for all!

  • 2012 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 95 Points

    France, Champagne

    Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour at Pink Ivy. Been almost a year since I had this last, so time to check in. Wow, just tons of sea spray and fresh air, brioche, nice toast, pear, caramel cream, almond, ultra fine minerals, bright and finessed. 95 or better.

  • 2020 Domaine Huet Vouvray Demi-Sec Le Haut-Lieu 91 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray

    Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. Fairly aromatic, has that Chenin pungency, stone fruit, wooly, apricot, taut, a little flora note emerges; ripe red apple and slate on the palate with a spiced finish. 91+ to 92pts.

  • 2011 Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard 94 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

    Light-medium ruby color. Drank a glass plus over 2 hours. From magnum. This bottling has been fairly legendary in our circles, winning a blind tasting against one of those wines that starts with DR. This started a bit more muted from the mag, but it really evolved nicely in glass over 15 minutes or so. Cherry, earth, and soil emerge; dthen the perfume comes out, juicy raspberry on the nose, becoming very floral with rose and violets. The palate is medium bodied, quite refined, underbrush, dried earth, cherry and berry, with dusty minerals and fine, sleek tannins. Loved it. 94pts or a touch better.
