Hosted a fun retirement party from one of our friends in the wine group who was officially 'retiring' from the group. No better way to celebrate than with a vertical of great Bordeaux along with other great wines throughout the evening.
We started with the youngest and went to the oldest vintage.
I highly recommend mixing in something white with acid or bubbles to awaken one's palate before diving into the reds again.
Mixed bag of goodies!
Great night. The standout vintages for the Pichon Lalande were '82, '85, '89, '96, and surprisingly '98. All were lovely, except for the '86, which was corked.
2008 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut
France, Champagne
This was a starter wine to a wonderful evening to celebrate the birthday of a good friend. This is drinking wonderfully now. I love the 2008 vintage in Champagne.

2013 Domaine Bruno Clair Corton-Charlemagne

Another starter wine for a great evening. Hard to call this a starter wine when it was drinking in such a superb spot right now. Would love to buy more if I could find it.
