524 days lapse. Immediately after opening, I find a lush and articulate smell, and a ripe, plump drink. Gradually, more emerges from it. Tarry green stem sweetness sheds more defined berry sensations, heavy and solar, that resolve in appetizing stone flavor. This vintage has relaxed remarkably in the five years I've known it; it even glances in the direction of disorganization, especially before aeration imposes a degree of edge and order. Certainly it's the most rhônish Roilette I know, moving from north to south as it ages.* (1309–1376 CE.) I like the seething, steeped infusions of licorice, strawberry vine, salted mulch, and deciduous tannins. Ça pinote. All that makes it a standout with robustly flavored brassica-garlic-chili-cheese dinner improv. Slurp it for maximum thrills. 91 ________ *24 hours resealed 63°F. Clearly better today. More edge and detail. Much more Beaune than Avignon today—except it's strawberry retral-scented rather than raspberry or cherry, so, identifiable as Fleurie. Tannic and gorgeous. 92+ ________ cripe the dregs; euphoric. mouthwatering. the 1st hour open is almost useless compared to the 25th
770 days lapse. (Immediately following a 24 hour-aerated Fleurie.) State. Stone. Pretty blue perfumes braiding plantar, broken stone action. Still in the first 30 minutes open, it has some very slight bandage notes to shed (gone after 45 minutes). I can already see how that wants to join the insuppressible conspiracy of violets and berry blossom. Still smelling it: a remarkable front of cool, mineral, jagged wall. For all the tannin—there is plenty—the event carries forward as if unencumbered by all that. Such voluntary eruptions of mirth and admiration rise from the cup. Whereas the Fleurie heaved with berries saturated and solar, this is an amusing tumble of weightless, floral, illuminated, atmospheric, sweet, scented, herbs. It's no daisy though, rather severely girded in deep stone structure. Acidity and mouthwatering appeal mount as the minutes tick by. Texture is fine grit, almost aerosol, but ultimately earthbound. Savory sensations mock the perimeter; fine marine vegetable, medicinal moss. Lavender strawberries. Worth the wait. Just entering the drinkable peak, which will last through 2034. ________ 24 hours resealed 64°F. Flavors are much more melted together today. It'sz not so obviously better like the Roilette was after 24 hrs, but maybe a little. The last slurp is heartbreaking, in anticipation of vacancy.
