  • 2022 Domaine Bizot Charlemagne 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Charlemagne Grand Cru

First vintage and this has been on my radar to try for a couple of months and hence was delighted to see this on the line up. Focused bouquet showing sudachi, setoka oranges, jasmine, nashi pears and white peaches. Palate has very good focus, precise and elegant but somehow lacking intensity. Stupendous finish and very good finesse here. This still needs loads of time to flesh out, would expect that with more age, this should blossom and would be loads more generous, esp on the mid-palate.

  • 2023 Domaine Bizot Bourgogne Blanc Les Violettes 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc

First experience with this cuvee. Bouquet a touch oxidative with peonies, hazelnut, walnut skin, sudachi, mango peel, chrysanthemum and salted kelp. Palate has plenty of umami tones, with weight, power and concentration in spades. Finish is dense and long with good acid spine. The weight on this reminds me of young and not yet resolved montrachet but the level of oxidation here is not a show stopper for me.

  • 2017 Domaine Bizot Bourgogne 94 Points

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne

“Wtf” was the first thought that appeared when I nosed this. Incredibly open and effuse bouquet of roses, violets incense, sandalwood, morello cherries, red plums and cloves. Palate is stunning with incredible aromatics and sensuality, all sorts of beauty in the shortest of skirts. Superb balance and elegance. How is this just a Bourgogne? 🤣

  • 2023 Domaine Bizot Morey-Saint-Denis Clos de la Bidaude 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey-Saint-Denis

Comparatively a lot less open and much darker in style. Focused and dark bouquet with sweet cherries, mulberries, bayberries, rosewater, cardamon and incense. Palate still pretty tight and restrained but loads of underlying power and weight sitting beneath the still waters.

  • 2023 Domaine Bizot Vosne-Romanée Paisseaux 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée

Bouquet lighter qnd more sensual, purity of fruit comes through here in spades. Crunchy mulberries, bayberries, cloves, aniseed, sadle and cedar. Wild strawberries and raspberries emerge with time. Palate is lighter and more silky, layers of silk enveloping and folding upon each other. So sensual!

  • 2020 Domaine Bizot Vosne-Romanée Paisseaux 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée

Bouquet a lot more aromatic compared to the 2023, more density and intensity off the bat. Frankincense, cloves, morello cherries, macerated plums, cedar and blood orange. Finish loads of finesse and intensity, plenty of vosne spice on the finish. Very youthful and robust but so impeccably balanced. Gorgeous and what a showing for the vintage!

Flight 4 (1 Note)

  • 2019 Domaine Bizot Echezeaux 96 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

Big daddy of the tasting.. Intensely aromatic bouquet of sarsaperilla, cloves, peppermint, eucalyptus, mulberries, cranberries and sandalwood. With time, mulberry leaves and strawberries emerge. Palate has great concentration, intensity and weight. Still pretty youthful and while this showed glimpses of greatness, realistically this needed a lot more time to open up.
