  Light yellow in colour, with a distinctly mineral nose that incorporates plenty of chilled green apple, subtle threads of oak spice, and gentle toasty undertones.
  The palate is lean and streamlined, carrying that mineral drive through to a reasonably long finish accentuated by crisp acidity. A clean and refreshing style that is pleasant but no more.

• 2006 Domaine Bachelet-Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Boudriotte 91 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru

  Light to medium yellow. The nose is adorned with softened peach halves, nectarine slices on toasty oak and cantaloupe melon, all dotted with vanilla extract, a blob of confectioners' custard and lightly grilled to give a warming lift to the fruit. The palate delivers rich, ripe fruit with a measured, fresh, racy acidity, giving the wine a delicate backbone. There is a fatness ot the mid-palate yet a light phenolic grip of mineral and lemon zest. Gracefully, the wine opened in a glass, gaining outstanding clarity. Elegant if a tad dilute on the finish. It should fill out with time, as it hasn't quite settled yet.
  Les Boudriotte sits on limestone-based soils (with some clay influence)

  Light to medium yellow. A more restrained aroma with tangerine peel, stone fruits and chilled organic melon, with touches of guava, but an overriding funky earthiness - almost petrichor, giving an oxidative quality to the wine - not detracting, but more intriguing and possibly showing some evolution.
  The palate is a delicate latticework of clean, vibrant acidity that sits comfortably, flowing through some pithy grip and light oaky notes, with fleshy nectarine and peach and a squeeze of lemon. Although delicate, the oxidative quality suggests some bottle-aged development rather than inherent style. Yet, the glass improved over the next ten minutes.

  Medium to deep yellow. Expressive notes of bruised pear, pineapple, Golden Delicious apples, and wet riverstones, generously infused with toast and roasted nuts, with a hint of oxidation.
  Open-knit and broad on its fullish palate, the wine has fruit sweetness and concentration. Still, it reveals a touch of fading oxidation and some mid-palate flabbiness. Acidity feels moderate rather than driving, with bruised orchard fruits giving a slightly tired impression. Perhaps a lesser bottle.
  2001 was a somewhat warm, uneven year in Côte de Beaune whites, with several growers producing wines that aged faster than expected.

  Medium to deep yellow. Muted at first, the aromas slowly swell to reveal honeyed pineapple, grilled herbs, and bruised apple, with a teeniest touch of lemon. Ripe with a racy, lightly induced mineral acidity on entry, supporting a medium-weight frame. The apple and the bruised apple take the lead. Yet, the wine falls away quickly as the back palate approaches, suggesting a mature wine that is starting to fragment. Interesting, but showing its limits.

  Light to ruby colour with intense fragrant aromas of a dozen red roses, Bing cherry and unusual touches of blackcurrant, perhaps redcurrant - very persistent.
  The palate is sensual yet tight and elegant with a chalky mineral undercurrent and crisp acidity, making the wine poised and pure, flowing cleanly across the mid-palate. There is plenty of fruit, yet a very subtle green note mid-palate is observed. Delicate and florally interesting, the wine finishes long with coarser sandy tannins. Well-balanced and harmonious.

  Light to medium ruby. A powerfully fragrant nose of vivid wild strawberry, tangerine peel and a pot-pourri of dried flowers touched with some vanilla oak- gorgeous!
  A medium-bodied wine with plenty of extract from integrated grippy tannins and warm generosity yet enough lively acid to keep it buoyant. The core that is a hive of sweeter red berries with a coffee-tinged mid-palate and a sense of sucrosité (slightly sweetish roundness),
  Overt, the wine has a lushness and a ripe, warm-vintage feel. Some concentration and quite energetic this is a lovely wine.
  Huge harvest in 2009

• 1978 Remoissenet Père et Fils Chambolle-Musigny 89 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny

  A mid brick red colour with a shade of garnet in its core. Intense tertiary notes of sous bois, damp earth, cough syrup, some lightly wetted cardboard, brown mushrooms and medicinal tints with a touch of bruised Cox apple. The group diverged: some felt it had an "old bottle" character, while others felt the cardboard note implied a TCA-affected wine.
  For me, given its age, the wine was simply deeply mature, and the cardboard did blow off. The palate continued its savoury theme, with marmite and dried leaves, with suggestions of crushed stone. Shows ripeness and complexity, though the mid-palate feels a bit hard, with iron notes, and the finish feels attenuated; overall, the wine shows impressively for its age. Clearly fragile!
  1978 was a great post-war harvest, hot and dry

• 1969 Remoissenet Père et Fils Chambolle-Musigny 95 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny

  A mid garnet colour, more intense than the 1978! The nose is tertiary with savoury notes of undergrowth, sous bois, fudgy toffee, worn leather, wood smoke and even the remnants of some dried forest berries - and a touch of fragrant lift. The palate is supple and velvety with a throng of complex tertiary layers weaving in and out with alacrity. The wine has depth and elegance, with a refined feel, lovely soft caramel notes riding with a moderately lively acidity into the sunset, far, far away, given its notable length. A beautifully mature wine - Outstanding and very much alive!
