The star of this great flight. Berries and apple galore with so much depth and richness. very bright finish.

Graceful and elegant with plenty of apple, lemon curd with floral hints. More complex than powerful, but very good overall and better for me than 2004 P2 alongside.

Slightly richer than the 2004 P1 alongside, but more noticeably bready in that very P2 manner, which I often don't prefer. Also very good, but P1 was better.

So much here tonight, just still ever-so-slightly awkward. Dense, large scaled orchard fruits from start-to-finish, seemingly a bit firm in the middle right now. But so much great material here, it was slightly better than 160eme in the next glass.

Alongside Krug 2004 in a great 2004 flight. Floral start, this is bright and seamless with so much lemon, lime, green apple, and more. Maybe better for right now than the vintage Krug tonight, but the other has much more to come.

Almost the opposite of a tired bottle from last month, this is still awkward and firm to start, but with so much power and hinting at great depth. Oddly this fell off when re-tasted near the end of the evening.

Spiced with baked apple and toasted baguette. Charming and layered, this isn't as powerful as Krug can be, but draws your attention with its charm. At peak, but no urgency to drink up.

Softer and less weight than I recall or expected, but wonderfully balanced. In this case, I strongly preferred P2.

Yes more bready than P1, but so much more of everything. Powerful throughout with so much great energy.

Surprisingly underwhelming. This was brilliant when first tasted a few months ago, but tonight its flavors and aromas were simply flat. Something wrong with this bottle?

Magnum. Rich and nearly opulent with enough of a bright streak, all with very good concentration and weight.

Tasty enough but lackluster vs previous bottles. Some enjoyed this, others wondered if corked (I didn't), but something was imperfect.

Alongside Krug, both great. Green and yellow apple with berries and so much more fruit, this is both a cornucopia and a powerhouse, with so much more waiting in reserve.

Alongside 2008 Dom. Also just a baby, more dense than Dom but maybe less glamorous. Also so powerful and great, nearing great balance already.

2008 horizontal. Sweet black cherry and baking spice aromas followed by softer fruit flavors and textures. Perhaps slightly affected by being airshipped the day before?

In 2008 horizontal. Didn't thrill me. Firm black fruit, good power, but slightly drying finish.

In 2008 horizontal. Red and black cherry with plenty of roasted meat, very substantial structure, but easily and well integrated. Very good now, with upside from here.

2008 horizontal. Tired and lackluster, this was from the same case as another bottle tasted 6 months ago that was oxidized.

In 2008 horizontal. More red than black fruits with good depth, well spiced start-to-middle, then slightly tart on finish. Upside from here. Best of the horizontal for now as well as for the future.

Mostly red cherry, some black cherry with meat and spice hints, all nicely composed. Good enough finish. At its peak.

Broad array of all black fruits with great Grand Cru concentration. Not the most multi-dimensional of Grand Crus, but the power demands your attention. Very good now, some possible further upside.

1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut Collection 92 Points
France, Champagne
Brooding and still nearly backward, this is a powerhouse with so much racy energy. Somewhat ungiving, certainly to start, a bit more with time/air.

1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 93 Points
France, Champagne
Great start with plump, baked apple, toasted brioche, lots of power, this picked up in intensity quickly, then gradually started losing steam after open 30+ minutes.

1988 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon 94 Points
France, Champagne
Certainly the star of the 88-90 flight, this was a wonderful composition of rich and taut, mature and fresh in one sip. Very good depth, easily enough structure to carry it through.

1990 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon Flawed
France, Champagne
Tonight's bottle was old and seemingly musty, some thought it corked, but I was thinking it possibly poorly stored at some point in its life.
