Flight 6 (1 Note)

  • 2010 Clos Rougeard (Foucault) Saumur Blanc Brézé 94 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur

    Glass: Spiegelau Definition Burgundy
Tasted fully blind. Clear, deep golden color. Fresh, lean, slightly oxidative nose.
This wine needs focus and attention to feel its true greatness! At first like a natural Chenin with lots of mellow apple and some oxidative notes. But than it builds up an impressive tension and energy on the palate! Wonderful structure, very mineral. Wonderful elegance and with time more and more balanced. The finish is not super powerful, but very elegant and very long. My rating transformed every minute from 93 to 94-95. Wonderful wine, wonderful experience!

  • 2019 Heinrich Mayr (Nusserhof) Elda 89 Points

Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Vino da Tavola

    Glass: Zalto Universal
Tasted fully blind. Did I mention that I am not particularly fond of Trollinger/Vernatsch? Clear medium ruby color. Nose with some barn. We thought about TCA, but the palate was clean.
On the palate noticeable tannin (WTF, this is Vernatsch...). Nice grip, some green notes, stems. Bone dry. Chalky mineral notes mixed with clean cherry fruit and fine bitter notes. High acidity. Medium length. Really nice. 89-90

  • 1993 Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch (Erben-Thanisch) Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Auslese #5 Auction 93 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

    Glass: Zalto Universal
Half bottle. Clear, pale amber color. Fully developed, classic middle Mosel Riesling. Beautiful balance and harmony, some smoke and some speck mixed with exotic fruit and honey.
On the palate very fresh, but of course fully mature. Lively acidity, only 9% abv. Sugar has blended in very nicely. Wonderful harmony and balance. Deep. Smoke, black tea, honey, exotic fruit. Long and lingering finish. No upside potential but would have stayed on this level for a couple more years. 93
