  • 2022 Domaine Fernand Engel Pinot Noir Cuvée Fernand

    France, Alsace

    The wine shows med intensity, fragrant, red cherry notes, strawberry notes, red berry notes. The wine shows a pleasant profile, a few herbal elements in the back adding some more depth.
    In the palate, the wine follows the style, more red berry notes, juicy tannins, the herbal element is stronger, there is a darker note prevailing here, some roasted notes. The wine shows med to high acidity, med body, med to long finish

    With time, the wine gets darker, denser, the oak is more apparent, nutty the the tannins get grippy, it grows on you, give it time
    The wine shows a rather sweet overall character, maybe due to extended hanging time

    The wine shows med intensity, fragrant, red berry notes, the wine shows a dusty element. Again the herbal element, fine spice frame. There is a candy note in the back. The wine shows (as it gets warmer), a sweet note more and more. The wine shows some floral notes, raspberry notes, some VA notes. The acidity stands taller than the fruit, feels lean.
    In the palate, the wine shows med body, airy, very juicy tannins, nice acidity adding a tart nuance here, crunchy red wine, drops rather fast in the aftertaste though with a little bitter note.

    The wine shows a more decadent profile, red cherry notes, the wine shows a more savoury approach, smoky, nutty, feels a bit more evolved though, a bit dusty and bitter, baked spice
    In the palate, the wine feels shows a rather refreshing acidity, the fruit is brighter, cleaner, red cherry notes, some cranberry notes, light body, cuts short

    The wine shows freshness, fruit forward profile, green apple, pear notes, the wine shows some herbal notes, tea/chamomile note, floral notes, orange zest. The wine shows lemon/lime notes, rather vertical in style
    In the palate, the wine shows high acidity, tart, crunchy, the wine shows extraction, again green apple notes, pear, again chamomile notes. The wine shows some residual sugar but probably not much. The wine shows lean to med body, med to long finish.

    The wine shows similar profile in both the nose and palate. The wine is very dry with med/long finish

  • 2017 Domaine Fernand Engel Riesling Silberberg de Rorschwihr Cuvée St. Michel

    France, Alsace

    The wine shows full evolution, more like a deeper yellow colour.
    The wine shows overripe lime, citrus, stone fruit notes, the wine shows old oak notes, sweet spices, candied yellow fruit notes.
    In the palate, the wine shows the same profile, full on evolution, decadent, stone fruit, yellow plum, orange notes, marmelde notes, what feels like med acidity, med body, the wine shows a tartness that tries to add some freshness here, concentrated, but weirdly enough cuts rather short.
