In general the formula here is that the host sets a theme and every participant brings a wine of the theme. The host puts a few extra on the table. We taste all wines blind, only knowing our own wine. We first taste a little bit in a random order. Then we decide together in which order the wines will be tasted again and after that revealed. In this group we hardly use spittoons, so the number of bottles is limited. We don’t empty the bottles, but leave the leftovers for the host to taste again the next day, or take home the bottle we brought. In fact this easy setting where we taste the wines several times over 4 – 6 hours is the ultimate way to get a good impression of a wine.
2018 Château Andron Blanquet 89 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe
Dark berries and cherries, some oak, good medium+ acidity and sticky tannin. With more air time the wine became more supple and friendly.

2018 Château Marquis d'Alesme 93 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
Expressive bouquet with oak and cedar as well as sweet spices. Same on the palate, juicy dark berries, well dosed oak, medium+ acidity and still sticky tannin, there is a touch of chocolate and sweetness as well. Although it drinks lovely the wine is still a bit too young and will improve over the next 5+ years. I have a few more, so there will be a follow up in some years.
