Pinot on the River Tastings

Introduction
Saturday tasting and Sunday Grand Tasting notes. I couldn't make it to all the producers represented, but I made it to the ones I was most interested in. My big find for the weekend was Baton, with a wonderful Pinot, an excellent Chardonnay, and the best late harvest Cali Chard I've ever had. Also excellent were the Bjornstads, Chasseurs, Fort Ross, Gary Farrells, Hallecks, Littorais, MacPhails, Papapietro Perry, Roar, Siduri, Sojourn and Testarossa. I particularly enjoyed Adam Lee's comparison of '06 and '07, as well as his unusual, and very good, Blanc de Noir.
There was also a large grouping of wines that brought to mind Allen Meadows' complaint about the sameness of California's overpopular Dijon clone plantings. Please God, no more single clone bottlings!
All in all, a very enjoyable tasting and a great advance look at the awesome '07 California vintage.
