Introduction
Standard flock blind format. We did try to separate out the Spatlese+ levels of concentration to the second half of the wines, and of course they showed the best.

Group #10, My #10 - Full golden color. Lovely ripe apricot tropical nose with petrol notes. Somewhat rich thickness but no sweetness at all. Note of petrol on the palate - seems mature for an 02.

Group #11, My #8 - Medium yellow color. Mediu dusty mineral white fruit nose with mineral hints. forward juicy palate of petrol yellow fruit and baked apple. More mineral and acidity than fruit here, but decent.

Group #8, My #7 - Pale white color with green tinge. Medium / forward bright nose of grapefruit skin, acidity, and seashell. Spritzy juicy sweet green apple with a note of honey on the palate.

Gropu #5, My #4 - Yellow golden color. Big lovely nose of swweet spicy banana peel, yellow fruit, and a petrol note - beguiling. Nice big rich matur butterscotch palate with just the slightest hint of sweet.

1997 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune

Group # 11, My #9 - Pale yellow color. Medium nose of mineral with slightlyzingy angular note and a hint of banana peel. Almost bitter almond note on the palate with mineral notes carrying through but odd. Can't say what it was, but this could not have been a good example. Scored 86 pts.

Group #7, My #9 - Medium yellow color with a hint of green. Spicy perfume note of gewurtz - lychee. Spicy prickly complex white fruit on the palate. This was a dead ringer for Gewurtz and was all about the nose.

Group #2, My #3 - Pale yellow color with green notes. Pale nose of sour apple and just a hint of petrol - nice. Rich slightly sweet green apple with a lingering finish. A bit light on its feet and became almost a bit simple with air.

Group #4, My #1 - Full golden color. Huge petrol nose with a hint of white flowers. Nice big bright rich juicy full bodied baked apple on the palate. Very nice.

Group #6, My #6 - Medium yellow color with a green hint. Another spicy lychee gewurtz nose here - but rich and more petrol with white peach accents. Big full sweet spicy perfumed white fruit with a hint of bitter on the finish.

Group #1, My #2 - Full deep golden color. Rich nose of butterscotch, mineral, and petrol. Nice rich honeyed palate but not cloying at all. Round sweetish and long. This was a fully mature example and I guess it was a bit older ('76).
