Introduction
Commercial tasting put on by the Lambton Fridge introducing some of the upcoming wines from the Mudgee area. Sit-down affair with 8 wines available for tasting.

Decent tasting with some nice wines. Purchased a mixed dozen of our favourites but none of them were 'breath-taking". Good cellar fillers. Will be interested to try out one of the Ice Wines at the next Newcastle Wine Club tasting.
2004 Huntington Estate Sémillon 89 Points

During Lambton Fridge "Mudgee Wine Tasting". Wine served non-blind.
Deep golderns colours dispite it's young age. Flawless shine. Steely nose that tended to blow off fairly quickly. Medium to light weight on the palette, heavier than your average Hunter semillon. Added complexity, dispite no indication of oak. Flavours of canned peaches and lemons.

2003 Frog Rock Chardonnay

Too much oak for me I'm afraid. Grew abit in the glass with some warmth and air. Deep goldern hues showing a little bit of bottle age. Rated as average.

2005 Di Lusso Vermentino 85 Points

Definitely a summer quaffer. Character built up with a big of warmth with the fruit really filling out. Very "Pinot Grigio" in style with a small alcohol kick mid palette.

2003 Di Lusso Sangiovese

Small amount of vanilla on the nose. Good secondary flavours (almost roasty). Bright and tangy with small to medium tannins. Smooth palette with a touch of dryness. Sweet but not overly "cooked". Black berries and burnt orange. Excellent mouthfeel. Rated G.

2001 Huntington Estate Shiraz Special Reserve Bin FB19 89 Points

Big and sweet, but drink up fast as the fruit tended to blow off rather quickly (bad bottle perhaps). Excellent up front flavours though. Not link it's close "Hunter" kin, much more berry's and flavour than earthly style characteristics. Reminded me of Barossan Shiraz.

2001 Botobolar Cabernet Sauvignon

Organic winery.
Inky black hues and a super-dry mouthfeel. Typical coonawarra cabernet-style and build. Very big structure but perhaps a bit "hammerheaded". Unfortunately all the fruit seems to "disappear" rather quickly leaving the glass very boring after it had aired. Don't decant this one.

Deep colours with a very shiny gloss. Smokey flavours on the nose. Nice sweet fruit up front with a sticky dryness. Perhaps a tad short but with a really interesting mid-palette that provides enough interest. More of a food wine really.

2005 Elliot Rocke Estate Sémillon Ice Wine 89 Points

Very very long on the palette. Toffee/honey flavours throughout. Super smooth without the normal "fortified" middle palette. Very interesting structure - almost seems to roll along the tounge. All flavour without any alchohol kick. Excellent middle "bump" of toasted honey.
