1995 Château Branaire (Duluc-Ducru)
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien
From Coravin. Brambly, savoury, a little polished oak, blackcurrant, sweet spice, very slight clay, mulchy notes and touches of Brett with time as well more leathery tertiary notes. Juicy acidity, quite savoury on the palate, far meatier than the nose with grainy drying tannins that are pleasingly tight, fruit quite muted though. Tidy up? A decant should help the fruit to open a little more.

1999 Château Branaire (Duluc-Ducru)
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien
From Coravin. Polished oak, blackcurrant, a slight mineral freshness, touches of blood, iron, sweet spice, a little leather. Medium plus intensity acidity, slightly coarsely grained tannins, black hued fruit sits behind this and grows on the finish. Hmm.

2004 Château Branaire-Ducru

From Coravin. Ooh, almost a little crème du cassis note underpins blackcurrant, brambles, touches of forest floor, earthy, cedar, leather and undergrowth with time. Lovley nose. In the mouth it's juicy with an initial fresh fruit splash then savoury and slightly bitter notes with a blackcurrant underpin plus drying tannins which offer a coarse silk texture and a little alcohol warmth on the finish. 2007 Château Branaire-Ducru
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien
From Coravin. Yeast extract, Bovril, beefy notes with a touch of sweaty horse, brambles and earth, behind this. I think that the Bretty is going to take over which makes this a tidy up based on the nose though the fruit does grow with time. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, touches of pyrazine, brambly fruit, blood, that Bretty note translates to the palate with talc textured tannins. S'okay but, like the 95, one to tidy up for me.

2008 Château Branaire-Ducru
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas, touch of dusty glass, behind this brambles, blackcurrant, polished oak, sweet spice, a little lactic note, pretty nose. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, dark hued fruits are still fresh and in the compote space, little touches of rhubarb, tannins are mouth coating, slightly drying but supportive and integrated, really lovely.
