From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of brambles, cream, a little earth and forest floor underpins, muted sweet spice. Agitation makes the alcohol more noticeable but it's 9am and I'm on an empty stomach so that might account. It also makes the fruit 'pop' a little more, touches or red berry, muted blackcurrant and a little beef tea. Nice and complex nose. Medium plus intensity acidity, black hued fruits, and beef tea, sweet spice, almost a little almond meal note (?), silky tannins persist long with the flavours. Nice.
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas initially show blood, red berry, tiny toasty notes, plums, brambles, a little violet, cream, brambles and, with time, a little baking spice and creamy underpin. Medium plus intensity acidity, red and black fruits sweet spice, cedar, creamy underpin, tannins are drying, woody, fine powdery textured and persist long. Non intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish. Feels like it still needs a bit more time.
From Coravin. After the last two wines this is far bolder on the nose; fruit immediately assaults the nose showing slightly baked blackcurrant, brambles, black plums, that creamy lactic notes, cedar, sweet spice. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, fleshy, plenty of ripe dark fruit lends a Christmas cake quality when combined with the sweet spice from the oak all served on a woody platter that offers no splinters but merely a relatively tongue tugging pull. Very nice today.
From Coravin. Brambles, undergrowth, slight leather, fresh blackcurrant, a little metallic note, fruit tea, sill a touch brooding and begrudging. Juicy, fleshy, savoury, fruit is a little reticent on the palate, it's surprisingly meaty and savoury, tannins are drying, tight but relatively softly textured. hmm. From Coravin.
From Coravin. Graphite, pyrazine, wet blackcurrant leaf, black tea, sweet spice, red hued fruits, a little brambles, cedar. Medium plus intensity acidity is juicy, fleshy, flavours go hand in hand with the drying though surprisingly silky textured tannins, a touch of alcohol warmth on the finish, possible showing because of the relative paucity of flavours carry. Balanced though, nice for me.
From Coravin. Ooh, savoury, meaty; chicken crisps, a little oxidised notes as well; bruised fruit, caramel, sweet spice, red currant, slight pyrazine. The oxidised note grows with time, very meaty on the palate with a little fresh herbs and woody, stony tannic grip, a little cooked fruit in the background. Flawed? Not quite but tidy up with stew pronto.
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of blood, iron, red hued fruits with a little sharp smelling red currant, touches of pyrazine, wet stone, leather, almost a touch of bonfire. More of the same on the palate, juicy acidity, tannins offers a tug on the palate, a litlte warmth on the finish which shows meaty, savoury notes, that bonfire note more BBQ here with a vegetal underpin, kind of nice.
From Coravin. Brambles, leather, earth, a little meaty underpin, sweet spice, touch of blood, wet hay. Nice nose. Juicy, again brambly fruit, a litlte meaty note, savoury spies, tannic tug is drying, talc textured, persistent, leather on the finish. Nice.
From Coravin. Fruit tea, brambles, a little leafy note, fruit ta, leather, forest floor, did I say fruit tea? Nice nose. Red hued fruits are in charge of the brambles, the leafy note present here lends a little bitterness, tannins are drying, cedar, tiny orange peel note as well as the ubiquitous fruit tea. Nice but probably drink up now.
From Coravin. Low intensity initially shows a little leather, red fruits, with agitation, the red hued fruit pops a little more (as much as a 42 year old can pop) and is joined by touches of biscuit, dried leaf, wet earth, blood and iron. Quite a bit sour and green, lean & mean on the palate, muted red fruits and, surprisingly, quite grippy, drying tannins, not all the way to completely vegetal but defo in that space. A reflection of the vintage, no doubt.
