  • 2019 Oenogenesis Thyrsus 90 Points

    Greece, Macedonia, Drama

Winery Visit: Oenogenesis: On the nose, highly aromatic and intense with peach, lemon, white flowers, and a hint of herbaceous notes. Great aromatic complexity. On the palate, medium acidity, full body, and a long finish. A beautifully complex wine with both high aroma intensity and excellent aging.

  • 2023 Oenogenesis Feggites 89 Points

    Greece, Macedonia, Drama

On the nose, medium intensity with mineral notes and yellow fruits. On the palate, both aromatic and showing a slight salinity from the Assyrtiko, suggesting an interesting blend with SB. Despite being a 2023 vintage and no oak, it has a solid body. Not highly complex, but a very enjoyable wine to drink today.

Flight 3 (1 Note)

  • 2014 Oenogenesis Feggites 93 Points

    Greece, Macedonia, Drama

Winery Visit: Oenogenesis: Stunning aromas on the nose. Intensely expressive with notes of stone, mushroom, herbs, honey, and dried fruits like apricot and pear. On the palate, it has significantly softened, yet the acidity remains strong. The body has lightened, and the finish is medium. The perception of aromas has intensified over time, making it a beautifully aged and complex wine. Well-balanced with a medium finish. The fact that it’s unoaked is a big plus. Thanks to lees aging of 7 months, it has aged wonderfully.

Flight 4 (1 Note)

  • 2023 Oenogenesis Feggites Rosé 89 Points

    Greece, Macedonia, Drama

On the nose, medium intensity with subtle vegetal notes, ketchup, and a hint of red fruits. On the palate, the vegetal flavors are more pronounced, with an herbal structure. The aroma profile appealed to me more comparing to the sweet regular rose wines. The alcohol is a bit high. Medium body, medium finish.

Flight 5 (1 Note)

  • 2016 Oenogenesis Deka X White 88 Points

    Greece, Macedonia, Drama

The color is golden yellow, quite deep. On the nose; honey, candle wax, a hint of truffle, peach compote, and clove. The aromatic variety on the nose is superb. On the palate, it has a more natural and sharp style. The oak is a bit more prominent. The aromas are noticeable, but not in the style I was expecting. You cannot get the same intensity and aromas from nose on the palate. The lower acidity has somewhat negatively affected the drinking pleasure.

Flight 7 (1 Note)

  • 2007 Oenogenesis Feggites 89 Points

    Greece, Macedonia, Drama

The wine has softened incredibly. It’s still drinkable, but has turned more like eggplant marmalade. The wine has started to decline, and its style has changed significantly. It's still enjoyable to drink, but the body has begun to fade.

Flight 8 (1 Note)

  • 2008 Oenogenesis Deka X 82 Points

    Greece, Macedonia, Drama

The color is quite hazy. On the nose, there are caramel, burnt sugar, clove, oak, and vegetal notes. The acidity is high, but the tannins and body have diminished significantly. Unfortunately, the wine has passed its peak. It’s still drinkable, but it didn’t provide the expected pleasure, especially comparing to its price.
