  Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Frankland River

  Sulphur, muted citrus shows lime over lemon. In the mouth the medium plus intensity acidity is quite sharp, more lemon than lime, linear, sulphur, simple <shrugs>

• 2024 Spinifex Riesling Single Vineyard

  Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley

  Lime has a little more concentration after the Swinney; lime cordial, a little waxy note. On the palate this is reinforced; still linear but with a little flesh and textured, muted fruit though. Hmm.

• 2024 Meadowbank Estate Riesling

  Australia, Tasmania, Southern Tasmania

  Savoury (wild ferment? Lees work) citrus and green apple. Savoury in the mouth as well, saline with a little pithy bitterness. Short but interesting - there is a touch of texture here as well. Nice.

• 2024 Mount Majura Riesling

  Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District

  Waxy citrus shows orange and lime, a sense of richness. Juicy, fleshy, tiny texture, initial fruit splash dissipates quickly and it drops away to nothing. Pity.

• 2025 Utzinger Wines Riesling

  Australia, Tasmania

  Medium minus intensity aromas of lime and wild ferment, a little candied peel. Ooh, a little residual sugar 'lifts' the non delineated fruit, textured rasp but the fruit doesn't persist. Bah.

• 2023 Weingut Hirsch Riesling Zöbing

  Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal

  Quite green smelling fruit but also a sense of weight. In the mouth more of the same, slightly leesy, creamy underpin, tongue coating burr, a little minerality with the fruit. Interesting but not for me.

• 2022 Hiedler Riesling Langenloiser Urgestein

  Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal

  Medium minus intensity aromas are cheesy and leesy, fruit behind this. In the mouth it's juicy with a quite baking spice note, muted non delineated citrus fruit, long but carried by the non intrusive alcohol warmth. Hmm.

• 2021 Rudi Pichler Riesling Smaragd Terrassen

  Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

  Lime, floral, mineral notes initially on the nose. More of the same on the palate married to medium plus intensity acidity, tight on the finish with texture as well. Feels like it needs 3-5 years to settle a bit. Hmm today.

• 2022 Schloss Gobelsburg Riesling 1ÖTW Ried Heiligenstein

  Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal

  Savoury with a mineral underpin accompanying orchard fruit with a little stone fruit note as well. Juicy, fleshy, the palate is slightly disjointed; the components present but not amalgamated. Time but promise.

• 2023 Emrich-Schönleber Riesling trocken

  Germany, Nahe

  Medium minus intensity aromas of green apple with a touch of herbaceous underpin. Simple nose. Medium plus intensity acidity, green apple, slight grapefruit, tongue tugging rasp, medium length. Hopefully time will give this some complexity but it's expensive for what it is @74 AUD

• 2023 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Frühlingsplätzchen Riesling Großes Gewächs

  Germany, Nahe

  Savoury, minerality, slight white flowers, a little apple, slight peach sits behind this. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity. Closes in on itself quite quickly, the floral notes implied by the nose are present though. Time required. Good but not Dönnhoff good.

  Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

  Medium minus intensity aromas show apples over stone fruit, a little Sponti. All transfer to the palate with unsurprisingly impeccable acid/sugar balance. A sense of breadth here as well. Yum.

  Peachy initially, slight mineral notes, slight Sponti. Juicy, fleshy, a sense of breadth, fruit as per the nose but a little bitterness encroaches on the finish; not off puttingly so. Nice. Time.

  Sponti, funky behind this a little stone fruit and some minerality. In the mouth the medium plus intensity acidity is offset by the residual sugar, more green and red apple with a creamy lactic note on the finish with a little soft textured. Hmm.

  Germany, Pfalz

  Mineral, a little almost baked strudel note, white flowers. Medium plus intensity acidity, tiny textured, super fresh, utterly charming, balanced, that textured rasp lends length and intent on the finish. Yum.

• 2023 Kilburg Treppchen Vorm Berg Riesling Kabinett

  Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

  Low intensity aromas show a little earth, non delineated stone fruit, not much going on even with agitation. The moth shows the acid and residual sugar but the fruit - which is more orchard here; green and red apple - is quite muted. Simple but travels long. Time will lend complexity. Hmm.

I thought the Ökonomierat Rebholz was quite interesting.
