Introduction
Excellent tasting of St Cosme wines. They were all really elegant and nicely focused, with nice fresh acidity and a really poised feel. I like the style.
2007 Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône 89 Points

This was an excellent Cotes du Rhone. Really darkly purple in colour, it had a nice clean feel to it, both on the nose and the palate. I had accents of flowers and bramble on the nose. On the palate, clean acid, pure cherries, savoury meat, and black olives along with smoky charcoal, all very clean and pure flavours wrapped up in an elegant structure. Simple, but weighty for a CdR. Lovely.

2005 Saint Cosme Châteauneuf-du-Pape 92 Points

Dark purple colour. Nice nose, if just a llittle oak-dominant at first - butter and vanilla along with a really pure expression of sweet blackcurrant fruit. Really clean, elegant feel to the palate with lifting acidity and super-firm tannins backing up bright flavours of dark berries, black olives, roast meat, raisins and a touch of forest floor. Long, elegant finish, with a smoky charcoal character rounded the wine off. Very nice, but this needs lots of time.

2006 Château de Saint Cosme Gigondas 91 Points

Lovely, but very very young. Dark purple colour. Nose was clean and delineated, with pure cherry and blackberry flavours along with bramble and flowers. Lots of elegance on the palate, with clean acid along with some dark fruit and pepper. All really tightly wound up at the moment, with lots more wrapped up in a beautifully structure with firm tannins and good freshness. Clean, lingering finish with the nice freshness continuing for some time. This will need sometime, but will very good in future.

2006 Saint Cosme Côte-Rôtie 93 Points

Very, very nice indeed. Dark purple robe. Oaky vanilla marked the nose at first, but that gave way to meat and pepper notes along with a perfumy, flowery tones and plush dark fruit. Great aromatics on this wine - super attractive and sensual. Like the other St Cosme wines I tried, this was really clean, with bright acid adding real focus on the palate. This was weightier than the other wines though, with a plump meatiness, lush dark fruit and rich cherry / berry flavours packaged in firmish tannins. The finish was longish, but seem to fall apart a little towards its tail-end. Apart from that, a really delicious wine throughout.
