Medium ruby. Fragrant menthol. Medium weight, some texture. Black fruit, olive, high acidity, light soil. Best of the 4 wines so far, but the balance is again a big issue with shrill acidity cutting off a promising attack.
Ruby/purple. Fragrant violet and herbs, substantial aromas. Medium body, very expansive in the mouth with dark fruit, chocolate/ground coffee, and furry tannins. Outstanding cool climate Syrah that would be a great Northern Rhône ringer.
Ruby with fading. Medium weight, less juicy than the 2021 Sealift. Menthol, blue fruit, and high acidity that drives the wine more than the light tannins. Bright, soil feel, and a bit of bitter chocolate. Very good and almost mature.
2022 Copain Chardonnay Dupratt Vineyard Flawed
USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
Yellow. Moderate oak. Buttery with acetate on the nose. Texturally rich but muted fruit and odd chemical taste. Shame on the winery for serving this.

2023 Copain Grenache Brosseau Vineyard

Clear ruby. Tart red berry on the nose. Light, tart cranberry, unbearable sour acidity, soil, and harsh whole cluster notes. Awful.
