  Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

  Insipid, flat, no dimensional. Little varietal character. No mouthfeel, no finish.

  Pears, apricots, honey. Not a great auslese, good flavors, lacks acid balance and finish. Certainly drinkable.

  I've tried this a couple of time and don';t get it. Cab, merlot and syrah blend from Lodi. Hot, bland red wine. Drinkable, nothing special.

Rosebank Lowland 1990 14 YO- light, sweet, almost lemony. Nice, simple, low peatiness. Very easy smooth drinker.

Strathmil Highland 1992 13 YO- more body & peat, less sweet.

Arran Bourbon Cask 12 YO 50.5% . Nice- the bourbon really infused a good flavor to the scotch. Elegant flavors, deep, smooth.

Ledaig Isle of Mull 10 YO. Charcoal flavors.

Laphroig Signatory 2001 7 YO. Tasted older. Nice peat bogginess one expects from Islay.

Arran and Laphroigh were the best.

So then he gives me a Kelt VSOP Cognac, made sloshng aroud in part full casks in ships. Beautiful, elegant. Got one for my Dad.

The scotches and cognac were all excellent. Some of the wines were just plain bad, with a few exceptions.
