Introduction
This was an awesome tasting, and one of the better ones that we have done. Everyone in attendence were in the industry as winemakers/vineyard mgrs/marketing. The wines were served blind in one flight.
2005 Sine Qua Non Grenache Atlantis Fe2O3~2a, b & c 98 Points

Absolutely stunning nose of graphite, black cherry, blackberries, and tobacco. Totally seamless on the palate with firm but well integrated tannins and great acidity. An elegant wine that is totally balanced.

2006 Tir Na N'og Grenache 91 Points

The nose is unique in this line up and just screams Aussie. Menthol, raspberry, and spice. A very nice wine but the mid-palate is a little thin to garner a higher rating.

This wine is not my style, but others liked it quite a bit. Bright, sweet rubarb pie on the nose, with overripe fruit and cedar on the palate.

2006 Bodegas Alto Moncayo Campo de Borja Veraton 94 Points

This wine shows a good amount of toasted oak, but it is really singing on the palate. Great balance of acid and tannins on the palate. Black fruits, salt, oak and tobacco on the palate.

2006 Torrin The Maven 95 Points

This wine was amazing. Sweet black fruit matched by gripping tannins, nice acid, tobacco, and spice. This wine is a bit monolithic right now, but in 10 years this will probably be the best wine out of the whole tasting.

2006 Alban Vineyards Grenache Alban Estate Vineyard 90 Points

A nice nose of earth and black fruit, with a tad bit of VA on the back end. Nice black fruit and spice, but the overt RS keeps this wine from getting a higher rating.
