Introduction

New DuMOL wines available from KL. First experience with this winery and very excited.

Flight 1 - Whites (2 Notes)

  • 2007 DuMOL Viognier Lia 91 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    Rich aromatics of tropical fruits, orange blossoms, and coriander. Nice acidity up front with only moderate richness. The floral element follows through on the palate with white pepper. Unique and enjoyable, but not cheap.

  • 2006 DuMOL Chardonnay Chloe 94 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    Oh boy, this is delicious. Rich aromatics with nicely incorporated oak influence. Creamy pear, grilled yellow apple and vanilla with spice. Again the palate is fairly rich, but balanced and with lively acidity. Almost a lemon curd towards the finish. Very nice.

Flight 2 - Pinot (3 Notes)

  • 2006 DuMOL Pinot Noir Finn 90 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    Very delicate aromatics, almost restrained. Raspberries, slight spice, and dominating toast. Palate is muddled with high acidity and firm, dusty tannins. Finishes lean. Maybe a bit young?

  • 2006 DuMOL Pinot Noir Ryan 93 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    The aromatics on this one are enough. Very floral, spicy, and herbal. Reminiscent of potpourri. Integrated with ripe raspberries and red berries. The mouthfeel is surprisingly rich. Nice acid and finishes very spicy. Different style and well put together.

  • 2006 DuMOL Pinot Noir Aidan 90 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Green Valley of Russian River Valley

    This one has potential, however I think it is showing quite youthful. Like a young Burg, high acid and austere. Minerally with slightly ripe red berries and a touch of spice. Will revisit in a few years.

Flight 3 - Syrah (2 Notes)

  • 2006 DuMOL Syrah Russian River Valley 93 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    Usually not a huge fan of domestic Syrah, but this is fantastic! Liked better than the Eddie's Patch, for now. Super ripe blue plum and blueberry pie. Bacon fat and roasted meat. Super rich and concentrated with well balanced acidity. Tannins are in check and are well integrated with the extracted blackberry fruit. Well done.

  • 2006 DuMOL Syrah Eddie's Patch 91 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    Quite a bit more refined than the RR, but not as nice right now. Smoke and spice make up the aromatics. The palate is of delicate spices, dusty tannins, and not quite as hedonistic. Just a different style that will take some time to integrate.

Closing

Overall very impressive with a few that were amazing. Consistent style throughout with ageworthiness. Can't wait to follow the progress throughout their evolution.
