  • 2008 d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab 88 Points

    Opened and served immediately. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of wet stones, white flowers and a bit of peach. Light on the palate with notes of grapefruit, minerals and a touch of apricot. Medium acidity and body. Drink over the short term.

    Opened and served immediately. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Light petrol aromas quickly shed to reveal underlying notes of honeysuckle, peach and florals. Flavors of tangerine and peach. Light to medium acidity, light to medium body. Drink over the short term.

    Opened and served immediately. Raspberry color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Little hot on the nose accompanied by aromas of raspberries, a bit of red currants and a little melted red licorice. Flavors of raspberries, berries and a dash of tart red cherries. Light to medium acidity, light to medium tannins, medium body. Drink now with a short decant or maybe hold over the short to medium term.

    Opened and served immediately. Purple color in the glass. clear hue throughout. Nose of dark chocolate, black berries and a bit of potpourri. Flavors of currants, rich berries and a bit of licorice. Light to medium acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink over the short term, maybe the medium term. Decant briefly to let a little bottle funk blow off.

    Opened and decanted for sediment and then double decanted back into the bottle and allowed to slow-O for about4 hours before serving. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass. clear hue throughout. Nose of blueberries, potpourri, currants and a bit of cocoa. Flavors of sweet currants, berries, cherries and a bit of jam on the medium to long finish. Medium acidity and tannins, full bodied. Drink now with a decant or continue to hold.

  • 2002 Lengs & Cooter Shiraz Reserve 90 Points

    Opened and decanted for sediment (none present) and then double decanted back into the bottle and allowed to slow-O over about 4 hours. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of roasted coffee, currants, plums and white pepper. Flavors of black berries and black currants. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Drink over the short to medium term.

  • 2002 Marquis Philips Shiraz Integrity 93 Points

    Opened and decanted at least 4 hours before serving. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of potpourri, talc, white pepper and a mix of dark fruits. Rich and full flavors of currants, berries and cherries. Medium acidity and tannins, full bodied. Drink now with a decant or continue to hold.
