Dinner at Godai Sushi (4 Cabs and a Pinot)

We met Carolyn and Xavier for dinner and some great wines. Tasting notes are in order we drank the wines.

• 2006 Del Dotto Pinot Noir Cinghiale Vineyard 94 Points

  USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

  Popped and poured. Huge nose of cherry and a little earth. Big, bold taste of cherry, spice and a touch of earth. Medium to long finish. This is my kind of Pinot!

• 1999 Merryvale Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 91 Points

  USA, California, Napa Valley

  Popped and poured. This wine took a while to get going. A definite decanter in the future. Lots of fruit on the nose, but taste was a little off for about 30 minutes. After that, wine was very good. Taste of blackberry, currants with a hint of vanilla and oak.

• 2005 Piña Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon D'Adamo Vineyard 93 Points

  USA, California, Napa Valley

  Popped and poured. Dark color. Wonderful dark fruit and on the nose and taste. Nice tannins and smooth overall finish. Well balanced wine from start to finish. Really, really good wine.

• 2005 Fidelitas Cabernet Sauvignon Champoux Vineyard 92 Points

  USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Horse Heaven Hills

  Nice taste of black fruit with currants and a touch of oak. Good balance and really smooth. Nice Wine!

  Popped and poured. Wonderful dark fruit taste, with some tobacco. Really nice finish.

First, food was fantistic - Thanks Goro! Second, wines were tremendous! No stinkers here. Also, thanks to Scott for bringing the Fidelitas over to the table to share. It was really good!
