I don't understand why this is so expensive... It's good, and has a nice richness to it, but I just don't see why it's $40.

Pretty nose. I was actually pretty excited. But the palate featured super high acidity, with mouthsucking tannins, and not enough to compensate for that. 86-87

1/29/09: Retried w/out drinking 100 wines and has slightly different impression. A lttle riper then I remember, but it does carry good acidity and still keeps its typicity. 86-87
1/22/09: Nice smokey spice on the nose. Great fruit. Medium bodied. Great acidity. This is a well done Monte, I just wish it was a couple bucks cheaper. 87-88

11/22/09: This drinks exactly like a SB. Full of grapefruit and citrus on the nose. Not as nice on the palate as the aromatics. 85-87

1/22/09: Nice soft, spicy nose. Ripe, with very good fruit. I wish this was a little cheaper, as it's a very nice bottle. 87-88

2/28/09: Nice acidity. Made in a medium bodied style. A little olives mixing in with the bright red fruits. Solid bottle of wine.

Haven't had enough of these to understand them, but does that ever happen with these wines? Impossible to get a feel at a tasting. Lots of nuts. Lots of weird stuff. Slightly oxidized. Almonds... Long finish. Very strange.
