Opened and served immediately. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with fine, steady beading. Nose of yellow apples, pears and a bit of lemon zest. Flavors of yellow apples, pears and a bit of lemon on the medium finish. Bright acidity, medium to full body. Drink or hold. Pretty consistent with previous bottles but a tad fuller on the palate this time.

Light yellow color in the glass. clear hue throughout. Rich nose of freshly cut grass, limes, sea foam, wet stones and a fresh Spring bouquet of flowers. Lush flavors of lime, apricot and freshly sliced oranges. Bright acidity, somewhere between light and medium body. Much fuller on the palate than your typical Arneis. Drink over the year to two years. Without a doubt the best Arneis I've tasted to date so the score is reflective of it's performance against it's peers. Well done.

Dark rose color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Almost Volnay like nose was quite unexpected. Notes of asphalt, a touch of scorched Earth, black cherries and light floral notes as well. Earthy flavors of Bing cherries up front with some added notes of berries and black raspberries. Bright to high acidity, medium tannins, medium body. Drink or hold. Interesting that the color was so dark on this wine as the juice only stays in contact with the skins for 24 hours or less.

1978 Gaja Barbaresco

Took me almost 10 minutes to get this cork out with an Asoh and I still managed to push one tiny piece into the bottle. It was literally crumbling bit by bit as I tried to remove it. Surprisingly the wine inside seemed to be in pretty good condition with perhaps just a bit of premature aging/oxidation having taken place as a result of the cork. Garnet color in the glass, dusty looking throughout with a slight brownish twinge in certain spots. Nose of anise, leather, camphor, a bit of a floral element, licorice and finally some notes of shale. Palate was a bit more simplistic compared to the nose focused mostly on berries and cherries. Light to medium acidity, fully resolved tannins, light to medium body. Drink now. I rarely rate wines of this age but I'd say this one was still pretty solid in the 90s someplace on the WIML scale.

Brownish color in the glass, fairly clear hue throughout. Nose of caramel, root beer, leather and anise. Bright cherry flavors on the palate with added notes of licorice and ginger root. Bright acidity, light to medium tannins, light to medium body. Drink over the short term. One of the more interesting older Baroli I've opened over the past few months.

Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of perfume, talc, potpourri and a mix of dark fruits. Rich fruit flavors of berries, plums and cherries. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, fairly full bodied. Drink now with a pretty decent decant time or continue to hold.

Dark garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Nose of rose petals, black berries and saddle soap. Flavors dominated by black berries. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full body. Drink now with a decant or continue to hold.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Big nose of peet, licorice, leather, florals and dried dark fruits. Rich flavors of berries with some added notes of red licorice. Medium acidity and tannins, fairly full bodied. Was tasting pretty doggone good the next day as leftovers. Drink over the shorter term, maybe medium if you'd like to push it.
