Slight oxidation on the nose. Golden yellow color. Tastes of caramel, apple, lemon and lime. Nice mid palate depth. Strong minerality on the long elegant finish. If memory serves me, these wines all tend to have this oxidized quality. Is this the house style?
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
Golden yellow color. Caramel nose with notes of new oak. Tastes of apple, pineapple and lime. Excellent balance and acidity. Spicy finish. Quite closed especially compared to the two other times I was fortunate to have tried this wine. Either off or going into some sort of dumb phase.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Pale yellow color. Apple spice nose. Tastes of lemon, lime, apple, pear with very nicely integrated French oak. Well balanced. Medium bodied. Deep and complex finish. Side by side showing much better than the Chevalier-Montrachet of the same vintage. This wine also seems to be coming together better over the last year. Always a pleasure to drink Leflaive.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Dark golden color reveals its age. Funky tropical fruit nose with some oxidation. Tastes of pears with butterscotch. Soft finish. On the downward slope. Drink up.
Ruby color. Cherry and cola aromatics. Tastes of black cherry, raspberry, cola, spice and earth. Fruit forward with some ripeness and lots of oak treatment. Soft, elegant finish. A very good wine however unfortunately it pales in comparison to the red Burgundy's served with it. 14.5% alcohol.
Dark ruby color. Raspberry nose. Tastes of black cherry, earth and charred oak. Medium bodied. Well balanced. More modern in style. Spicy finish. Unfortunately again not in the same league as the other wines at the table. 14.1% alcohol.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Ruby color. Bing cherry on the nose with a nice earthiness. Tastes of cherry, rose petal, earth and violets. Excellent balance. Medium to full body. Long elegant finish with nice depth and complexity. This wine seemed to degrade or close down as it spent time in the glass. Very nice wine nonetheless. 13% alcohol.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Romanée Grand Cru
Ruby red color. Pretty cherry nose. Tastes of cherry, blackberry and earth. Nicely integrated French oak. Medium bodied. Incredibly well balance with great freshness. Elegant and silky with a knockout finish. My personal WOTN. 13.5% alcohol. Bottle # 1024.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Dark ruby color. Raspberry nose. Quite closed and primary. Muted red berry fruit with pencil lead and earth. Soft, earthy finish. Seems off to me. 13.5% alcohol.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Dark ruby color. Charred oak and caramel nose. Tastes of cherry, raspberry and earth. Excellent depth on the mid palate. Nice balance. Medium to full bodied. Pretty finish with very nice elegant. 13.5% alcohol.
Golden yellow color. Waxy, honeycomb nose. Tastes of orange, lemon, honey and peach. Decent balance but could be better with slightly more acidity. Rich, powerful finish. 14% alcohol.
