    Very ripe juiciness. Candied fruit with a lighter silkiness. Floral spice on the nose too.
    Palate shows raspberries, with medium bodied tannins. A solid GSM blend.

  • 2006 Four Vines Peasant 87 Points

    Thinner lighter bodied with a tart quality that is unique. Cherries with higher acidity and some heat on the finish.

  • 2006 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel 89 Points

    Concord grape with a dusty blueberry essence. Purple flowers with nice acidity on the finish.
    Medium full bodied with some solid grip. Not about all the hype though.

  • 2005 Treana Red 90 Points

    This "Paso-blend" of 70% Cab / 30% Syrah was great.
    Lush ripe raspberries with round tannins. Good focus of stewed red berries.
    Higher in acidity and alcohol levels while remaining in balance.
    Quite impressed with this wine. Enjoyed their white Rhone blend too.

  • 2006 L'Aventure Optimus 93 Points

    Beautiful dark cherry. Chocolate, leather and some nice spice on the mid palate.
    Solid long finish. Excellent silky mouth feel. Enjoyed this more than the treasured Estate Cuvee interestingly enough.
    I felt this was more accessible and showed more refined elegance than the Cuvee's currently awkward masculinity.

    Standard medium bodied Cabernet. Nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either.
