Bernie and Chas pulled out some vinatge Champagne to launch the studio before the main opening on the 30th Sept 05
An interest mix of reviews; Salon was found difficult by all but improved throughout the evening, Cristal and Dom Perignon were liked by the girls; and only a few takers for the Krug. The '93 Charles Heidsick magnum was also very good but a little bit deflated by being served after the grand wines.
1985 Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 93 Points
France, Champagne
Smelt like sherry most of the night and tasted more like a well aged chardonnay/burgundy. Developed better over the length of the evening but still a bit nutty and musty. Full body

Bouquet of coffee, darker colour than other 3 but not really dark. Well structured with depth but lacked a little fruit. Full Body

1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 97 Points
France, Champagne
Have had several times before and always good but not outstanding: this was; WOTN. Great structure and mousse with perfectly balanced acidity and fruit to give a refreshing zippy, for its age, champagne. Very delicate.

1990 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut 90 Points

Flat. Finest mousse but just lacked fruit and was flat in the company of the other wines.

1993 Charles Heidsieck Champagne Brut Millésimé 91 Points
France, Champagne
Fell a little flat after the four previous wines. Larger and more pronounced mousse, colour was similar to others, slightly lighter. Fruity on the nose and easy to drink but a class below what went before.
