sushi, cheese, and burgundy... our not-quite-monthly tasting group met up for a non-blind burgundy tasting. catering by umai.
As mentioned, Umai catered this event with three huge trays of sushi! Yum!
A mixed bag of styles -- WOTF for me: The Colin-Morey St Aubin
Very nice flight, with a disappointing oxidized wine. WOTF for me: Leflaive Les Pucelles. This flight has me hopeful that I will "get" White Burgundy. My bank account is scared.
The Pommard was hit at peak -- a nice example of getting the right bottle on the right night. Still the WOTF for me was the Drouhin Chambertin, which still has a long life ahead. Possibly the WOTN.
The Echezeaux stood out here, another candidate for my WOTN.
L'Enfant Jesus was excellent! The Corton showed signs of life as the wines opened up.
Berries and aged Beerenauslese... yum!
a great evening, and i learned a lot about burgundy through the breadth of the wines tasted
