Introduction
The inaugural Every Other Tasting Club event. Open-label California Cab tasting, any vintage, $15-30 price range.
Most wines bought for the event, a couple pulled from cellars. All wines poured from bottle, most wines had time in the glass to air.
Interesting set of wines - more varied than I would have expected given the guidelines.
Flight 1 - Main Event (5 Notes)
We decided to tast these from the youngest to the oldest.
Flight 2 - Mystery Wine (1 Note)
This wasn't quite a fair fight given Paul's intense love of Turley Zin's, but he kept himself quiet while the others did the guessing.

2003 Sharpshooter Cabernet Sauvignon 85 Points

Every Other Tasting Club. Dark red, touch of purple. Limited nose at first, grows a bit over time. Very smooth, round, easy-drinking wine. Still young, kind of flat. Very pleasant, eminently drinkable. A touch of vanilla. Some lingering caramel on the finish. Got better than worse over 2-3 hours.

2002 Braut & Sistra Cabernet Sauvignon Petrified Forest 84 Points

Every Other Tasting Club. Dark red, solid legs. Nose of cedar. Oaky, blackberry. Round but with a little backbone. Slightly sweet.

2001 Chateau St. Jean Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County 86 Points

Every Other Tasting Group. Medium/dark red. Sweet & round. Lingers on the palate. Structure builds up over time in the glass. Solid vanilla flavor. A little flatter than expected, but still reasonably tasty.

Every Other Tasting Club. Very dark pure red. Nose of Alcohol and strawberry. Black pepper too. very nice.

1995 Lyeth Cabernet Sauvignon 90 Points

Smells old/musty. I get pine needles. Beautiful body. Blackberries & fig. Dark berries but tartness of cranberries. Raspberry compote. Exploding dark cocoa.
