My conclusion is that, with the variability in these wines, it was not an across the board star vintage. Some of the reserve wines were outstanding, but could have used hours in the decanter to show properly. Others are already on the downward slide. The surprise wine of the evening, for me, was the Chapoutier, which had a sense of power and elegance.

Lovely nose of nectarines, white flowers, some leesiness, and mineral. The palate is what makes this wine, balancing nice viognier body with acidity, making the wine very balanced. Great showing.

Nice nose of orange marmalade, apricot, strong perfumed flowers, and nice garrigue.
Palate lets down the interesting nose, coming across as thin bodied and slightly astringent. Disappointing.

Nose of graphite, white pepper, cooked strawberries, plum jam. Palate was initially a bit thin, but this fleshed out with some air. Some coarseness of tannins on the finish.
With additional air, this wine went into the overriped spectrum, lacking structure. Evolved very quickly in the glass. Perhaps better a couple of years ago?

Fascinating showing for this wine. Initially was dense, without much nose, and with an odd chemical smell. Poured some in another glass, and came back to it a few times during the evening. It ultimately showed blue and black fruits, dark earth, espresso, black olive, white pepper, touch os strawberry, and dusty mineral. Strongly structured palate still remains in this wine. Fruits were deeper, darker, and stronger than most other CNP's this evening.

Expressive but not overripe nose of tobacco (corvino-like), plum, chocolate, sage, fennel. Seamless, texturally striking palate and long finish. Rich without being cooked or jammy.

Nose of ripe, dark fruit, worseshire sauce, liquorice, mineral, tobacco. Palate is fairly rich, with some sweetness. A bit jammy, and lacking precision.

Nose of this wine was immediately expressive, unlike some of the other 99 reserves in this tasting. In spite of this, it really held together well during the course of the evening, even though it walked the fine line and almost spilled into overripeness. Black currant, blackberry, worsteshire sauce, delicate/but not over the top sweetness, smoked ham, graphite. Palate mirrored the nose, seemingly rich but not overdone. Long finish. A winner.

Nose marked by juicey raspberries, blueberries, and cherries. Palate medium textured, very nice midpalate and finish.
Very nice overall, but not particularly complex or distinctive.

Sleeper wine of the evening. Nose was originally rather dumb, but progressively came out over the evening. Nose of semi-sweet strawberr, blueberry, white pepper, garrigue, and a touch of buttermilk like tartness. Nose was marked by a freshness and lift missing in many other of these wines this evening. Palate mirrors the nose, showing strong but well-placed acidity, and plenty of tannins remaining on the finish. I would like to have some of this in my cellar.

This wine was notable only for blurred, simple, cooked fruit. Suspect this was bottle variation or a shipping issue. It's actually been stored pretty well.

Nice bretty nose of bridle leather, black olive, backed up by fresh plum fruit. Medium bodied, still alive and cooking. Very good overall.

Wonderfully expressive yet taught nose of red currants, black pepper, flowers, and spices, with beautiful lift. Delicate but not cloying sweetness on nose and palate. Palate is medium bodied, and nicely structured. Pegau always impresses.
