    Another great showing for this wine, it tastes ripe, generous and shows a definite Grand Cru depth, subtlety and nuance. Bursting with lovely sunny fruit, sweet cherry and loganberry, a hint of wood spice and nice acidity, it’s a wonderful ready to drink GC.

  • 1985 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

    From Magnum. A bottle full of earthly delights. This is picture perfect Bordeaux, hovering on the edge of amber, quivering with ripe, sweet fruit, smokey in a Cuban kind of way and all wrapped in such a lovely silky package that it becomes the only topic of conversation. It’s so easy and delightful as it slips down with the lamb, not shouting greatness just a gentle reminder with each sip.

  • 1988 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

    One of the last bottles of lunch so suffered a little with palate fatigue. Still lovely, very feminine, a characteristic I always forget when thinking about Hermitage, stinky fruit and leather on the nose and wonderful symmetry. Balanced, poised and thoughtful.
