Rieslings and More at PDH

I was fortunate to have a bottle on hand that fit the theme of this dinner. Tom invited me to join some of his friends from Crush at PDH for a night of Rieslings. I brought the Knoll, which was terrific and truly enjoyed the 1990 Figeac. A departure from more usual red style, but very nice. The folks from Crush, Chris, Ian and another gentleman, where fun to get to know. The other rieslings didn't make an impact on me, but the Ravineau was really nice.

• 1999 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux

  France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

  This had a beautiful nose. I'm not sure I do it justice with words. Floral and more. Fantastic. There were minerals in the midpalate and that heavy wood-tinged honey I've only ever had in Germany. Nice.

  This tasted more like a traditional riesling to me, slightly thick and sweet, but not cloying. Okay +
