Tasted as part of the CT Virtual Tasting IV. This is the kind of wine that gives the New World a bad name, in my humble opinion. It is ultimately a bunch of over-ripe, overextracted, excessively macerated syrah, over-oaked with new oak. The resulting wine is an extreme fruit bomb, with aromatics driven by new oak (coconut, vanilla, toast, etc) in addition to the peppery character of syrah. Aeration does nothing to it, other than accentuate the primary aromas, which really need no accentuating in the first place. Tasted over two days, without significant improvement on day two. Drink now if you must, but preferably steer clear.
Tasted as part of the CT Virtual Tasting IV. Intense purple color. On the nose it is spicy, and it displays raspberry, red plum, flowers, pepper, and roasted meat. On the palate it is dry, with good acidity and a medium body. The finish is pleasant and it evolves after aeration to display some chocolate and herbs. Nice basic CdR, with a good QPR. Give it another year in the bottle and drink it by 2013.
