An afternoon of blind tasting attended by about 20 pax each bringing a bling. Voting is done to choose the WOTD for the afternoon. Nice spanish food provided by Nooks cafe.

  Colour is off brown. Cooked rose water. Lifted alc . A bit simple and hot. I thought it was oxidised and flat.

  Dark soy sauce, leather and very soily. Mature stewed cherries, blackberries and exotic spices. Very balanced, tangy with satisfying orange peels at the finish.Can't believe it was an 03, this has good balance and seems prematurely aged. But I do like it now.

  Dark chocolate, kirsch and dessicated coconut covered over by fragrant hand soap. Frehs wild berries. Suprisingly good balance, this suprises with striking contrast to its nose. Firm tannins.

  Leathery with loads of spices and black pepper! This reminds me of a Pauillac! I get the beautiful aromas of pig organ soup. Lovely nice nose. Lightish red currant fruits and spicy small red berries. A wine of finesse. This was as good as I remembered it to be. Good stuff.

  Beautifully perfumed nose of stewed red dates , strawberries and hints of leafiness and green capsicums. Ribena-ish currants and dainty sweet strawberries. A bit earthiness but enticing cos of that stewed litheness.

  Dried figs, dried raisins and lovely corn caramel. A pretty dry wine with glimpses of sweet mahogany and orange peels. Inspiring acidity that gives life to a wonderful wine.

Very happy that "my" wine won! with the most votes ! when I didn't know it was my wine when I tasted it and thought it was a left bank bord. My WOTN was interestingly an 03 crozes hermitage that had nuances of a pinot.
