First Tuesday of the Month - Pegau

Lenny is a great host. He makes it seem so easy! And, he's generous to boot! He provided all the reds as well as a spectacular cheese course! Many thanks to him.

I was pleased to enjoy some of the Pegaus tonight. I have not enjoyed Cdp in the past, but this was quite tasty and a perfect complement to the Turkish food we ordered from Sip Sak. Generally, the wines are dark fruit, not heavy or huge, with some savory elements. The nose on many of them were tough to enjoy right out of the bottle, but ususally blew off quickly. They were nice all in all. I'll have to give so more attention to Cdp.

• 1993 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Rangen de Thann Clos St. Urbain

  France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru

  Petrol and sweetness on the nose, but neither was heavy. Darker in color, like gold. Nice enough, but while this wasn't cloying, it was just slightly thick. I think I prefer riesling that is crisper.

• 2004 Aubert Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard

  I just don't get it. I had the 06 Aubert Ritchie in Feb and didn't care for that either. I think it is choppy, not well-integrated. I did thoroughly enjoy the 04 Lauren earlier this year.

• 2006 Herman Story Viognier Larner Vineyard

  This was pleasant and relatively inexpensive. Clean, crisp. I think the Cold Heaven was better, though.

  I thought this very nice, spicy and perhaps a touch of tomatoes that blew off quickly. Tied for my WOTN.

  Really nice. Not as spicy or savory as the 1999, but beautiful for its freshness. Tied with the 1999 for WOTN.
